Metamorphosis

"Transformation is a journey without a final destination". We are always delighted in the beauty of a butterfly but rarely admit the change it has gone through to achieve that beauty. The butterfly goes through metamorphosis which is a greek word meaning change or transformation. It goes through four stages to transform from a caterpillar to a butterfly. A pinhead caterpillar has the courage and faith to undergo a massive change and receive the wings of transformation. They cannot be born without patience and struggle.
There is no single person who has not changed himself to achieve happiness, because if there had been no change , there wouldnt be butterflies. Without change, we wouldnt get silk, there wouldnt be a flower to bloom, or a pearl. There would be no diamonds to shine. Thus transformation is necessary to attain our best forms.
From the day we arrived on this beautiful earth, we have constantly been changing to achieve our goals. The infant stage is marked by happiness and cheerfulness but as we grow, with each stage the level of stress and responsibilities increases. Childhood is marked with less maturity and a lot of fun. It is the most beautiful among all life's seasons. Every action and every consequence a child takes, influences its destiny and life as an adult, while in adulthood people expect us to have full physical and intellectual maturity. The muscle mass increases, skeletal mass increases and learning ability increases. We accomplish our goals, we face struggles and burn the midnight oil because adulthood is the most daring stage. Then comes the old age, also known as senescence which is refered to as the final stage. It is marked by weakness and chronic ailments. In most cultures, old age or grey hair is regarded as a sign of wisdom and people attain great respect in the society because of their vast experience of life. The last is death which is defined as the end of our mortal body. I find it unfortunate that so many souls have left this place and will never come back. Maybe this is what makes life so beautiful.
We are born, we grow up, we age and then we die. Just as life begins, there is a constant change. From drinking our mother's milk, to drinking carbonated drinks, to drinking alcohol and at the end, drinking energy drinks. Even if we look at who we were a few years earlier, we see a new us right now. A wiser us, a better us because we have more experience, more knowledge and more power.  A transformation isnt just from young to old but transformation of thoughts, transformation of life paths.
After the bloody battle of Kalinga, the despairing and wretched scene transformed the heart of king Ashoka, who vowed never to go on the path of violence again. Gautam Buddha, who was destined to be the most powerful king to rule, had a change of heart after seeing the melancholy of his people, due to which we have the Buddhism which helps us as guiding force in our lives. Thus transformation isnt a big change, it is a series of small changes which changes our future. There is no one definition that encompasses the incredible gamut of experiences to be had in this place. Transformation literally means going beyond your form.
