A Tale Of Few States : Meghalaya

Meghalaya being a bordering forest region of India, faces intense safety threats.
ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION: There has been constant reports of illegal immigration where people from Bangladesh immigrate into Meghalaya for social and economic reasons. Sharing a 450 kilometer border with Bangladesh Meghalaya requires additional border security to safeguard it's people.
VIOLENCE AND ATTACKS: Internal conflicts between different tribal groups and constant terrorist attack by Bangladesh has been killing 28 meghalayans on an average every year. More effective steps must be taken in order to reduce death by violence.
JHUM FARMING: This refers to decades old practice of Meghalaya which involves cut and burn shift farming. This practice is creeping as a major threat to the biodiversity of the state and has also been affecting the economy of the agriculture as it is a low yield unproductive process. There has been difficulty in eradicating this issue as it is related with the ancient folklore and sentiments of the inhabitants.
Improving Issues: The state has been improving in political stability over the past decade. It is been governed by efficient and stable governments which will be a boost to the political social and economic development of Meghalaya
