Darkness

'Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering,  fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before!'
- Edgar Allan Poe.

Which is the foremost thought darkness evokes in your mind?- Fear? Batman?  Nothingness? Emptiness? Vampires? Ghosts? Werewolves? Dracula? It is self- evident that darkness has always been associated with all the negative things in the world. As a kid, I never used to enter a dark room alone, not because I was afraid, but because of the never ending void it created within me. But as I grew, I equated darkness with fear. I'm quite sure most of us have a similar story to tell. But there is a lot more to this never-ending expanse of nothingness.

There is an age-old saying which goes ' the night is darkest before dawn'. It is in these dark times that a person encounters his innermost fears and desires as well! The void that darkness creates inside us makes us dream like never before; makes us go places left undiscovered! But for doing that, one needs to fight the dark (the tough times) ; and for that, all one needs to do is get used to the darkness! As Albus Dumbledore says, ' Happiness can be found in the darkest of times. One should only know how to turn on the light! '

The vast reach of the dark spells makes them impossible to avoid . The only option that we have is of facing those dark times and ultimately illuminate ourself. Interestingly, our life should be dark enough for the light to shine as brightly as ever!

'A child in the darkness is always feared by those in the light'. Being in the dark can be as traumatizing as ever. However, such a state unknowingly puts us in a superior position, because we then hold the SECRET weapon! The weapon of experience and endurance.

So open your eyes! Take in, the darkness around you. In time, you'll know that it isn't a deterrent in your life, but your road to a scintillating world!
