MOMO Challenge

The internet’s a weird place , there is always something to keep us interested. Right now the thing that has taken social media by storm is the momo challenge. You might’ve seen a picture of a girl with orb- like eyes , ringed with dark circles bulging from a pale face framed by stringy black hair and a creepy smile stretching across her face circulating on the internet. That’s Momo and she is the face of the viral internet game the Momo challenge.

The avatar of Momo has been adapted from the artistic works of the Japanese artist Midori Hayashi. The Momo challenge has been believed to be spreading across various social media platforms mainly WhatsApp. The game requires players to complete certain tasks that are usually dangerous and involve self-
harm.

The viral game has caused panic and mass hysteria among parents and teachers. The Momo challenge is being called the Blue whale challenge 2.0 because of their eerily similar patterns. The Momo challenge has been linked to atleast 3 deaths of children ranging between ages 8- 15 this past month. Although, as per cybercrime experts, the viral game is nothing but a game, the marks of self-harm and the messages on the mobile phones of the children whose lives were lost say a different story.

Young minds today are impressionable. A lot of children use social media today but still don’t know about it's dark side . It becomes our duty and responsibility to make the children aware of what is right and wrong, of where they should put their foot down and about how much is too much. Awareness is the best form of protection. Equip them with all the bad effects social media can have on their lives so that they stay connected to reality and equip them to take challenges head-on rather than succumb to unreasonable demands.

Netflix Ads Can Be Skipped!!?

Have you ever watched an advertisement before a video that couldn't be skipped and felt grateful that atleast Netflix is great to you? If yes, then the days are gone. If you haven't been keeping up with the news recently, Netflix has come up with advertisements before and while watching anything and everything.
Netflix is supposedly 'trying out' this new ad feature for its original shows and movies and undoubtedly no one is happy with the decision. Although these ads are skippable, the people who loved to binge watch an entire series or perhaps a season find any interruption as such irritating and would rather not have one.
The viewers are advised to be grateful that this isn't a permanent feature yet and only a few selected, loved viewers by Netflix are spammed with the same and the decision can be changed anytime soon. If you are still not happy with the hard hitting truth and are the one Netflix is experimenting on, you can go to " https://t.co/OQqFsZLTrT " and stop the same.
Happy binge watching! :)

Remembering Atal Bihari Vajpayee

How long does death last? A moment, perhaps two,
Life is a sequence, beyond today and tomorrow.
I have lived to the full, I will die as I choose,
I will return, I have no fear of letting go.

  -Atal Bihari Vajpayee

On the 16th of August 2018, India lost its arguably most beloved leader in the current era, Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

A man of multiple talents, Mr.Vajpayee was a politician, a journalist, a poet and a Prime Minister. He started his political journey in the year 1939 as a member of RSS and continued it right upto his final moments. A great man, he served three terms as the Prime Minister of India and was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 2015, at the age of 91. These are just a few of the many ways in which he has served our nation.

His time as a democrat also oversaw the Pokhran nuclear tests, which were a historical symbol of India’s development. His excellent work was demonstrated at a number of occasions, including the time he privatised telecom sector, thereby causing the mobile phone revolution.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a man who radiated confidence. He wasn’t afraid of his potential rivals trying to overthrow him, because, unlike many rebounded names in the history of politics, he truly understood what ‘Democracy’ actually stands for.

He once admitted that he was a poet by instinct and a politician by accident. Having achieved the title of ‘a Dove among hawks’, Atal Bihari Vajpayee was an extraordinary poet orator. His poems touched a thousand hearts and inspired a million more. People from all walks of life gathered to hear him speak. He presented hope to all those who ceased to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

He wasn’t just a good man but also a great leader to the people India. He managed temperamental and unpredictable allies with dignity and grace. He handled the toughest situations with wit and self-deprecatory humour. He never let his ego become greater than his party or the government.
Such was the man whose loss we will continue to mourn. He will forever be remembered in the hearts of all Indians.

India Space Vision 2022

One of the most sensational things which garnered the eyes of millions, was the part where our Prime Minister addressed that space will be voyaged by us. Here, it will be a time, when Indian humans, and not machines will venture out into the mystical space beyond. Most of us have three names, saying that these three have already been to space. Kalpana Chawla, Sunita Williams and Rakesh Sharma. The former two were women of Indian origin, who went to space through NASA and the latter flew aboard the Soyuz, a russian spaceship.

ISRO has always been loved by Indians. Recently when it built a new record of launching 104 satellites at one go. It was lauded by everyone, from BJP to Congress, common men to rich barons. It succeeded in proving that India is not a poor country which lacks the know-how. This was a befitting response to the New York Times cartoon.

Some people argue that sending humans to space yields lesser benefit than sending machines. The cost and the technology required is overwhelming. International critics say that India must focus on poverty alleviation, women empowerment, infrastructure development and a variety of basic things which is present in the first world country. People have also mocked us by saying that the US, sent its first Astronauts to space in the 1960s and India is doing it 60 years later.

Despite all this for India to progress an become a superpower in the future it needs to diversify its achievements in all directions. ISRO scientists claim that this can be achieved by 2020. This will mark a new page in the history of India.

Rakesh Sharma sent photographs of the earth to Indira Gandhi. That was a sensational moment. In the future we can see young Indian men and women showing live feed of the earth to everyone. Just like how India is a blend of multiple cultures, the Earth is just a fragment of the infinitely large Universe waiting for it to be explored. Space Vision 2022 is certainly a large dream but with enough efforts, anything is achievable.
