Voice of The Mute: #2
FESTIVAL FOR US, CATASTROPHE FOR THEM.
BOOOMM!!!
As
the exploding bamboo shot up straight into the dark creating magnificent
sparkling light, the 5 month old puppy wailed in excruciating pain. The
constellation like formation of the sparkle in the dark sky was a treat to the
eyes of the kids and they danced around in glee. However, there was another
chicken hearted soul at the receiving end and all that it could do was shriek
in terrible agony. It wondered, “ Why do
these humans think that just because they walk on two legs they have all power
to dominate the planet? Does that give them the right to devastate our home?
Why do they refer to us as their best friends- Only to blemish our species?”
This was just the experience of a dog during what we call
the biggest festival of India.
The awful din and immense amount of air pollution caused by
fireworks is detrimental to mother nature in a way we cannot envisage.
The sudden blaze of bright light convulses the vision of animals,
making them vulnerable to comprehensive disorders- both mental and physical. With
unprecedented advancement in the field of science and technology, we have
designed some of the most spectacular lights and fireworks that our ancestors
could have only dreamt of. We take full
pride in embellishing our houses and ensuring that the global eyes gaze at our occult
illusions.
It is due to this nefarious and self-centred human behaviour
that the wildlife now detests human race. The sudden vanquish of the human race
is the only thing these animals can now dream of.
And on the other hand, we don’t seem to be putting an end to
these barbaric actions of ours anytime soon. Most of our kind, seem to be unequipped
with the knowledge that if humans were removed from the earth, the earth could
probably heal itself and once again become a place where the skies are blue,
the ocean clear and wildlife abundant and brimming with flora and fauna. The earth, its creatures can live without us.
We cannot live without them.
We kindle the crackers and the hopes of the homeless beasts dwindle.
Isn’t this just another form of animal abuse that goes
unnoticed? Their dialects are varied and unfathomable for us, but that nowhere
implies that they are unflappable. Humans as the most evolved species, need to
voice the unarticulated pang that these poor creatures are subjected to.
While preserving traditions and our native culture, we must
have a practical approach and condemn these acts carried out in the name of
religion or for mere entertainment and
celebration of our festivities and endeavour to highlight the
repercussions that they lead to on the other components of the food chain.
