The Lame Gamer
PC versus Consoles! A
debate rocking the gaming community since ages! Let’s have a go at it. Bear in
mind what you read further shall be “RAW”. As RAW as uncooked meat! RAW with
the arrogance of a PC Gamer who looks down upon the Console peasants as
inferior beings. Because it shall be portraying how stupid and ignorant console
gamers are. How crappy consoles are! How valid and apt the terms “Console Peasants”
and “PC Master Race” are! Now if you are a console peasant reading this, be
ready to have an epiphany about your stupidity. I am a true blue blood PC gamer
and “I’ma be shuttin’ yu console gamurz up”.
I was in 4th
grade when I purchased my first gaming console. The PS2! Yes I was naïve back
then. Pardon me for this sin that I committed because ever since, I am trying
to get rid of the taint this act of mine had inflicted upon me. Having broken
my controller within a month of having purchased the console, I have had that
waste of money locked in my cupboard ever since. Thus, began my ride of PC
gaming. Wait a sec, you weren’t here to read my nice flowery history! Nor was I
here to write it! TIME TO PWN CONSOLE PEASANTS!
The consoles as a
whole are an insult to computing and its advancements. They are just a cheap
product of marketing which stupid noobs and illiterate fools have given into to
spurn an industry out of nonsense. I mean you are spending 50k to play games on
your couch at 30 fps on 1080p. Just wow! Now before you go ahead and yell at
your screen while reading this that I am a stupid person who knows nothing and
slap some figures of some Call of Duty game running at 60fps 1080p (and bear in
mind, this is the highest specs any game can run at, PCs go above 4k surround
setups at 100Fps ) and some other AAA title running at 1080p 60fps ( there
aren’t many but yes you can go Google them and yell at me again because
obviously you have nothing on the tip of your tongue because chances are that
you are no geek like a PC gamer i.e. you are a peasant :P ) a vast majority of
the games still run at 1080p 30fps with low textures, no anti-aliasing, low
shadows, low tessellation, etc. and many like watchdogs run at 900p *laughs
hard*. Also at 30Fps you get too much input lag by PC gaming standards but I’ll
cover this point later. Now you’re probably opening a game on your console
which has great graphics according to you (pff, console graphics suck),
clicking a picture of the graphics settings page and posting it in the comments
furiously typing that “All settings say high you fool”, I will have to say that
first, you have low standards when it comes to graphics and second, you are
stupid. Of course every game developer will say that they are the highest
settings because that’s the max your crappy console can have! Now, let me
elaborate on why your standards are low.
THAT IS BECAUSE YOU
HAVE NEVER PLAYED ON A PROPER GAMING PC AND HAVE RAMBLED ON FOR AGES THAT “MMEH
MY CONSOLE IS AWESOME YOUR COMPUTER SUCKS! “ BECAUSE NOT ALL COMPUTERS ARE
MEANT TO PLAY VIDEO GAMES! Most people just buy a PC off the shelf for
productivity work. Now, go to a person who has a PROPER Gaming PC (You need to
understand the difference between a Gaming PC and a computer that can run
games. Every PC can run games but not every PC is a Gaming PC). Now if you go
and see GTA V on that PC versus GTA V on the console, you won’t notice much of
a difference. I mean of course it will look better on a PC ( if you say it
looks the same, I will find you and not kill you but hurt you and give you a
visiting card for an eye doctor because it DOES NOT look the same ) but I will
agree that there won’t be a massive gaping difference. This is because
Rockstar made a very poor port of the game for the PC. Go see a game like Watch
Dogs on a PC or Far Cry 4 or any game which is not a horrible port. Even
Battlefield 4 or Bioshock Infinite will do. Believe me those graphics throw the
console out of competition with a flick. Run those games at minimum 60fps on
1080p and compare the input lag on a PC with a console on such games. You will
probably be awed by it because there is much less input lag on a PC and you have
never experienced that on a console! It is like YouTube at 720p 60fps and
normal 720p. YouTube on 720p looked fine but after 720p60fps, there is no going
back to normal 720p. Same way, input lag on consoles might feel alright, but
once you experience the very little input lag of a PC, there is no going back.
Pair it with a G – Sync enabled or a FreeSync enabled monitor (if you don’t
know what this is, this is a variable refresh rate technology the GPU giants
have implemented to smoothened game play) to blow your mind over how much smoother
the game play is on a PC. Such technology will never be available on a console,
because your Television screens won’t support it.
You are probably
yelling back at me right now saying that such Gaming PCs cost above 100k. Of
course they do but the thing with PC gaming is that it is scalable according to
the size of your wallet. You can play ALL computer games on any Gaming PC
costing from around 30k. The thing is, that the Graphics will yet look better
on a Gaming PC costing 40k than a console costing 40k. Don’t believe me? Go
check out how to build a console killer Gaming PC for the Price of a Console on
YouTube and have a look at some benchmarks and graphics settings at which the
benchmarks were run. You will automatically believe me then (provided you are
not a thick headed individual in which case I can’t help you).
So now we know that
you can build a gaming PC at the price of a console and it will give you better
graphics than a console. Now, let’s see how high end gaming setups stack up
against a console. Consoles have only one offering at a single price point.
With PCs you can choose how much you want to spend. A high end gaming PC does
not only look “freakin’ attractive” but is also extremely powerful. It can Run
games at higher resolutions which much higher frame rates (if you say that our
eyes can’t see above 30 FPS nor tell the difference between 30 FPS and higher
frame rates, I shall find you again and not kill you but hurt you and give you
a visiting card for an eye doctor, but this time with a brief biology session on
how our eyes can see way above 30FPS ). Also, you get a LOOT of controller
options with a PC. You can choose any mouse/keyboard combo which suits your
games and play style, pick up a joystick from a large number of options for
Flight Sims, a racing wheel for obvious reasons, etc. You can pick up special
gaming chars (yes, they do make a difference) or make a triple monitor setup for
surround gaming. You can pick up 144Hz refresh rate monitors, 4k monitors and
pretty much what exactly you want once you enter the high end enthusiast level
PC gaming spectrum. You can even get super enthusiast grade stuff like a gaming
cockpit! PC gaming is so much more flexible! Get what you want and can afford! Consoles
don’t offer any such options. You might argue that such setups are very
expensive but of course a Lamborghini will be more expensive that a cheap
sedan. Now don’t come and argue saying that a Lamborghini is a two-seater while
a sedan can house 4/5 people in it (for you folks who keep saying that I can
play on a console with my friends at home while on PC I have to play online
with them or just single player ). PC gamers have LAN parties. Everyone can
their own rig and anyway, what’s the point of playing games like COD/Halo split
screen (ugggh)! You know where your friend is hiding and can directly shoot him
defeating the full purpose of the game. Playing Racing games split screen is
also stupid, you purchased a big TV for a reason, not to cut it up into split
screens to cram more players. And for games like FIFA and PES you CAN attach
multiple controllers to a PC and hook your PC up to a TV instead of a monitor.
Oh and I forgot, A KEYBOARD MOUSE IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN A CONTROLLER IN FIRST
PERSON SHOOTERS. IT IS MUCH FASTER AND ACCURATE THAN A CONTROLLER IN EVERY
SCENARIO. DON’T GIVE ME YOUR USUAL NONSENSE THAT ONCE YOU GET USED TO A
CONTROLLER, IT’S THE SAME. IT IS NEVER THE SAME. EG: YOU CANT DO A 180 degree
FLICK SHOT IN COUNTER STRIKE WITH A CONTROLLER. YOU CAN’T ADD MORE BUTTONS TO
YOUR CONTROLLER FOR KEY BINDS.
Speaking of Counter
Strike, let’s talk E-sports. Be it your 18 million dollar Dota 2 tournaments or
the ESL Counter Strike championships, E-sports is FUN! It brings a whole new
level of skill based and team gaming into the picture. Most of the E-Sports
tournaments are based on PC gaming only. There are extremely few Console based
tournaments on an international level. Also Counter Strike >>>>
Call of Duty (no auto aim/aim assist/blah blah in Counterstrike people! Pure
skill! ). But we will leave this argument for another day (-: .
Also, PC games are
cheaper than consoles (I know this is a crappy argument because most people
spend a shit load of money on PCs any way, but “Just sayin’ :P “). Now if you
say that we can’t play Console exclusives on a PC, I’ll say that you can’t Play
PC exclusives on a console. If you say that you don’t want to waste time
building a gaming PC yourself (which is very simple and there are numerous
guides available on how to do it), you get pre-built Gaming PCs too. For every
price point. In the end you will always need a PC at home for computer related
work, so you might as well have a gaming PC at home. If you say you can watch
Netflix and do other such stuff, on a console for which you prefer it over a PC,
you have probably not heard of a web browser on a PC. If you say we can record
our game play and share it with our friends easily, you probably haven’t heard
about the Xbox app on Windows 8/8.1//10. It has all the functionality you say
your console has, and even more than that. If you say that Xbox live or PSN is
awesome and that is why we love consoles, I’ll ask you to Google what Steam/Origin
is. Plus, we don’t have to pay extra for any kind of premium membership on these
networks, you buy the game on a PC and you can play online, just like anybody
else who has purchased the game. If you say that you like a controller over a
keyboard and mouse, you can attach it to a PC but I can’t attach a
keyboard/mouse to a console without a third party solution with an even higher
input lag. If you are into online gaming on a console, chances are you are
connected to your Router wirelessly which increases your latency while with a
PC, you will probably have an Ethernet cable connecting your PC to your router.
Those who say that a PC isn’t portable, y’all haven’t heard about ITX computer
builds. (small factor computers of the size of a console).
In the end, PC gaming
is just superior to console gaming in every aspect. I have probably missed a
few more points on why PCs are better than consoles but I think you have gotten
a fair idea about why we call ourselves the PC Master Race and them, the Console Peasants.

DeleteAs a fellow member of the PC master race, the content deserves no contradiction.
DeleteAlso, I'm the one who coined the term "Console peasants" for the first time. 😁
So you did make a significant contribution to this article after all.
DeleteThank you for that, Ashay. ^_^
