Nasty Battles #9 - Last benchers Vs first benchers
The classification - There are 2 kinds of students in a class- the
outstanding ones and the others who are always standing out of the class. The
former being the face of the class and the latter being the backbone.
Idiosyncrasies - If a doubt is being asked in the class, the nerds
frantically scan the textbooks for the answer while the other ‘chilled out’ kind
is like “Just 5 minutes left for the lecture to climax ;)". The first
benchers wish to get a degree to get a job (in hope of a ‘bright’ future) while
the last benchers consider Facebook as their present and also their future (Who
cares if it’s bright or not!?).
The former crowd will always
be on time, never call in a sick and would LOVE to work overtime (and basically
salsa to the teachers’ rhythm). Last benchers, on the other hand, are those who
OBVIOUSLY want to attend the class; but for the fun in their own sweet last bench-ly world (it does amaze me
that how they manage to listen to the teachers). They’ve developed this
dexterity of being and not being in the class at the same time - doing there
own stuff whilst constantly managing to avoid getting amassed in front of
others.
Last benchers are an
intriguing breed, but never mess with the first bencher nerds for Bill Gates
rightly said "Be nice to nerds; you will end up working for one".
Be ready to face the wrath of
the teachers, for if you dare to sit on the last bench, you happen to be their
prime target (of course, last benchers are smart enough to manage such
situations).
In the end, the first benchers
become successful doctors and engineers and the people at the back (a.k.a. LLBs
- lords of last bench) become... I don’t know? In fact, no one knows who they
are until they turn up on the first page of newspaper because the taxpayer has
been footing the bill for their duck house.
It’s said that geeks live on
chapters while the romping breed lives on memories.
The Verdict – Could there be a verdict at all? All I can say in the
end is that it’s not the position of the bench that counts, it’s the class
where it belongs which matters the most.
