Digital Diary - DE's Edition 4
Daydreaming turns my head into a realm of fantasies. I spend hours fantasizing my ideal life, instead of living the one I am presently just existing in.
Like most
people, my ideal life looks like a mostly unrealistic, perfect life filled with
prosperity, wealth, love etc. If only the scenarios in my head would actually
come to life. If only.....
But life is
not a rom-com, not until you start romanticizing the mundane things, the little
things.
We idealize
a fake life too much to be able to romanticize and appreciate the one we are
blessed with. When it's truly the little things in life which makes it so
beautiful.
I have
always found the moments in my life that brought me the most joy are the small
ones, whether it be looking at the moon while listening to your favorite
playlist, a perfect bite of food, a time spent with your friends where you
think to yourself “I am going to miss this moment”, going through an old photo
album and having your grandma tell you stories from your childhood, a walk
under the stars on an empty street, a peaceful sunset where silence feels like
music to the ears, or a random yet meaningful conversation sparked at 3 a.m.
These
things are what makes life simply beautiful. We believe that we will be the
happiest at reaching a certain point in our life where all our dreams come
true, but happiness is not a destination, its the journey and we call it life. Yes,
It is a bumpy road but without the lows would we ever learn to appreciate the
highs?
I like life
more when I remember to enjoy the little things in everyday. Romanticizing your
daily routine fills you up with so much gratitude and makes you feel like a
main character in your own little realistic movie.
Waking up
to the sun softly entering your room through the gap of your curtains, the
smell of your morning hot coffee, your exclusive concert in the shower, your
neighbor bringing you a new recipe they tried to taste, a kind stranger who
smiled at you, having a good hair day, your favorite band playing on the radio,
petting a dog you met on your way back home, going home to the smell of a
delicious meal being cooked by your mother, ending the day with your family
watching a cringe reality show which all of you low-key enjoy.
There's at
least one little thing in your day worth being grateful for. These little
things might not always be a core memory in your mind, but it once made you
feel a positive emotion, it made you smile or even laugh and boosted up you
serotonin levels and that is special in its own ways.
Once you
learn to be grateful for these little things, you will fall in love with life a
little more and hate it a little less.
I hope
reading this was your little thing today<3
