Feminism: The Way Of Being

A feminist is anyone who recognizes the equality and full humanity of women and men.

Gloria Steinem.

Feminism not a one way concept, a wide spectrum…

Feminism – an eight-letter word which has shaped the beliefs of all of the human-kind, which has kept the connotation of ‘feminism’ as the advocacy of women’s rights the grounds of the equality of the sexes.

Through this piece, I’d like to share my notion about this sentiment, seeking to establish parallel ‘hope’, ‘freedom’, ‘space’, ‘contingency’ and ‘cut’ through a male prospect. The penchant wave formally began in 1848, where about three hundred men and women rallied about for the cause of equality for women.

The socio-historical oppression was born when contradiction was seen as the antagonism between both of these sexes on the basis of biological differences, being compared to men, it was believed that women were at a biological disadvantage, as the reproductive function of a woman was considered as a taboo or a so-called handicap or affliction.

Before an occurring of a certain event like the birth control being introduced, women were believed to be at the mercy of their biology. Menstruation, menopause and all the female-ills, constant pain, childbirth, taking care of infants and other tasks performed by women made them dependent on a man whether it be a brother, father, husband, lover, clan or government or even a community at large in the point view of the society.

Feminism through his eyes…

Radical feminism is a perspective within feminism that calls for a radical reordering of society in which male supremacy is eliminated in all social and economic contexts. Radical feminism isn’t just about uplifting the rights of the women for equality in different areas but the subculture to advance and match the rights of equality just as same as a man’s rights, through intersectionality the frame for modern feminism was conceptualizing a person’s or a group of people’s social problems affected by discrimination and prejudices faced by them varying from identity, age, race, class and religion. Intersectionality calls for a modern approach to eliminate the elements for discrimination subjects.

We also need to subject motherhood and parenthood and caring to a feminist transformative lens and seek innovative ways to help us all do it better, as part of our work for systemic change.

We need to put stress on True feminism - feminism that seeks to liberate all women - leads inexorably to solidarity politics,  economics, and revolution - a global citizens movement, as described by the Great Transition Initiative.
